Company History
The Happiness Patrol was founded in January 2006.
Since then, we have created six productions, three of which were commissioned works, and during Spring 2010, we embarked on our first major national tour. Between August 2010 and April 2011, we spent eight months in Melbourne, Australia developing some exciting new projects and building up some amazing relationships with Australian artists, directors and producers.
Our work has toured to venues in Birmingham, Bridgnorth, Bromsgrove, Buxton, Cambridge, Halifax, Helmsley, Leeds, Leicester, Lichfield, Ravenshead, Stratford-upon-Avon, Walsall and York, and with our associate company, we have also taken part in tours which have visited Gainsborough, Hereford, Nottingham, Tutbury and Wolverhampton. Plays commissioned by other companies have also toured to The Edinburgh Festival.
As well as developing our own productions, the company has created commissioned work for Lichfield Festival, Lichfield Literature Weekend and York Archaeological Trust. Philip Holyman has also written commissioned scripts for Little Earthquake, the EJ Company and The Fellowship Players.
