An orphaned boy is mysteriously invited to stay with his elderly cousin in an isolated Lincolnshire mansion. Once inside, little Stephen Elliott becomes the unwitting focus of a chilling twenty-year experiment. Finally, on the night of the spring equinox, two terrifying figures from Mr. Abney’s past reappear to prevent the house’s gruesome secret history from repeating itself.

The Three Birds

adapted from Tereus, Procne and Philomela, from Ovid’s Metamorphoses

“…even now / The marks of murder show upon a breast / And feathers carry still the stamp of blood.”

Tereus, King of Thrace, is consumed with an illicit passion for Philomela, the sister of his wife, Procne. Unable to contain himself, he hatches an elaborate plan to satisfy his lust, and afterwards, he silences Philomela in the most horrific fashion. When Procne learns of Philomela’s awful fate, the two sisters join forces to carry out a truly spectacular plan for revenge.
