Tales of Terror
based on original commissions by Lichfield Festival and York Archaeological Trust
featuring the stories of MR James, Lafcadio Hearn and others
Welcome to the quietly sinister world of the ghost story… Take a trip to the hotel where withered hands shoot out of darkened doorways to snatch at passers-by, where rickety scarecrows lie chained to iron beds, and where unpleasant surprises lurk amongst the leaves at the bottom of a cup of tea…
Pop into the charming antique shops where old paintings and doll’s houses can suddenly come to life... Or leaf through dusty books filled with shockingly lifelike pictures of hideous creatures, and locks of hair pasted between the pages…
Walk through rose gardens and yew mazes where you may catch fleeting glimpses of their nightmarish inhabitants. But if you find buried crowns and broken whistles down on the beach, leave them well alone. They have probably been left there for a very good reason…
After causing spines to tingle at the 2009 Lichfield Festival, The Happiness Patrol returns with a brand-new set of supernatural tales. Join us for an intimate evening of gentle chills and pleasing terrors from some acknowledged masters of the macabre.
